You may or may not have heard of Elf on a Shelf before. It is an elf that you can hide around your house to spy on your child at Christmas time. Awesome concept huh? Well, Madelyn's elf arrived just a few days ago. We are not involving presents with her elf, or that he reports to Santa. Instead, we just have Madelyn tell him when she's a good helper around the house or when she has a great day she'll share some of the nice things that she'd one. For example, last night she helped us by giving me a piece of plastic that she'd found on the floor, and then she went and put it into the garbage by herself. We clapped for her and then took her to tell her elf about it. Her face just lights up when she sees where he is hidden each day! Below, he was in the stocking on the first day.

On the second day, she found him hanging out with kitty at bedtime.

On the third day, he was holding her ornament on the tree.

On the fourth day, he took a ride on our reindeer.

And today, on the 5th day, he was riding down the banister. Too funny!

Who knows where he will end up next? :)
There are some really cute ideas of things to do with the elf. One of them is have them make snow angels in a little flour on the counter! Adorable! I think we may introduce an elf next year.
