Halloween

Yesterday was Halloween! Madelyn was dressed up as a double scoop ice cream cone. She didn't disappoint in how cute she looked, that was for sure. She looked adorable! She loves to shout "Gooooooo!!!" and put her hands in the air while running down hills. This is her doing it as she ran down my aunt and uncle's hill.
It must have been hard for her to move in her costume because as she ate her favorite food (crackers) she would barely move her head and neck as she looked around the room. Too funny! However it did help in keeping her costume clean!
Here she is at her first house. She was kind of nervous and didn't know what to do but eventually we got some M&Ms.
She kept trying to take her candy out and give it to people instead of letting them give it to her. Too funny! Next year I'm sure that she'll understand and love it all!
Quite honestly though, Halloween wasn't happy. All day I kept thinking of how Timmy should have been here to celebrate with us. He should have been dressed as a football and Mads was going to be a cheerleader. I should have been worried about keeping him warm since it was chilly out. Instead, I don't get to worry about all of that and just feel empty instead. Granted I get that Madelyn is here and we're trying to enjoy things for her. Sometimes though putting on a brave and happy face for her is simply exhausting though because it takes so much to cover up how you really feel. Even with a smile on my face, it doesn't take care of the hole that's in my heart where Timmy should be. I really don't know how Thanksgiving and Christmas are going to be any better. I feel like they are going to be worse... :(
